Being a lifelong learner means that I am pushing myself to always provide students with the best possible education. This means educating myself whether by taking classes that can help make me a better teacher, listening to podcasts, or working with other educators. The following classes and projects have pushed me to not only continue my education, but to also try new techniques within my teaching and learning.
Objectives: 1. Develop the skills needed to maintain computer programs, computer systems and networks 2. Be aware of current trends and issues in computer education, distance education, electronic communications, computer hardware and software 3. Be proficient in finding, evaluating, and using current educational research to support continuous improvement in their profession
LT 716 Systematic Design of Instruction Throughout this course I learned about the instructional design process. I learned how to identify needs, the how and why of designing a product to meet those needs, the best method to deliver the product, and then evaluated and determined the effectiveness of the product created. My project was the development of a Google Classroom training other members of Harrisburg North Middle School. This artifact and class have provided me with the skills necessary to develop beneficial trainings in the future. Not only will it help me evaluate situations for the best type of instruction, but it will also prepare me for creating instructional designs.
ED 592 Google Infused Classroom This course was designed to educate learners on how to implement the different tools that Google has to offer. The instructor didn’t however limit the tools to just Google products, instead we learned about projects and how to implement them in a variety of formats. One such project was creating an infographic that described the learners we are currently teaching. Infographics have become a great tool to use in the classroom that pushes students to be creative. I have been able to implement this project into my classroom and it has allowed me to push creativity with my students. This artifact along with the Google Infused Class will continue to guide me as I progress with technology.
CET 720 Leading Evaluation and Change in Educational Technology This course taught the methods and principles for evaluating instructional technology plans, products and participants during each stage of the instructional systems development process. Before taking this class an Ignite Talk was not something I had ever heard of. We were taught how to make this style of presentation and in turn I have been able to teach middle school students how to also use Ignite Talks. This is not an easy way to present, but it is a much more interesting type of presentation. Creating this artifact pushed me to continue my education and as I use it in my teaching I am also helping students to learn to try new methods of learning.
